Welcome, move that stuff out of your way and have a seat. Let me find my coffee pot and I'll get you a cup. Watch out for those plates, I am trying to do the fall cleaning on my kitchen and could use a break. I cleaned out the food cabinets earlier and relized I looked like a total alcoholic. I have like 8 bottles of red wine up there, and none of us even like red wine. It was gifts. I do have one cool bottle though. It is a bottle of Norma Jean Merlot. It has a picture of Marilyn Monroe on it so I will probably never get rid of that one. My son wants us to give it to him for his 21st birthday. He loves her.
We had a small wreck out in front of the house this morning. A car ran into the back of another car. One woman was taken to the hospital complaining of neck and back pain, but no serious injuries. Wow, listen to me, I sound like a news reporter. And in the financial markets today...LOL
My husband made it to Oklahoma, saw his truck and now has to wait till they fix it. He said it wouldn't start and it does have a warranty so they will fix it for free. They are paying for him to stay at a hotel till it is ready.
Okay, I am looking for a really good recipe for rocky road fudge and banana nut bread. If you have one let me know. I will trade with you if you want. I think I am going to be lazy tonight and make hamburgers and fries for supper. I may even make my oldest do it. She actually isn't a bad cook herself.
One more favor to ask. S, the oldest has been getting a lot of muscle cramps and pains lately. I got her some bananas to eat, thinking maybe the potassium would help, but it isn't working. Do you know if it could be a part of growing I don't remember, or any ideas about what to try to help her? I would really appreciate any advice.
Well, I better go. It looks like that stack of bowls is going to fall over. Yep, there they went. HAve a great night!

Twilight glitter, children, and how to keep sane

Hello, again. Grab some coffee. We really need it this morning, it is getting down right cold out there. How have you been? Things are starting to get better here. My husband is in Iowa for a few more hours then heading to Oklahoma City to pick up his truck. It is a gold Freightliner. In only three years, it will be ours.
My daughter has been wanting some of that glitter gel so she can sparkle like Edward from Twilight, but do you know how muck that stuff costs?!? It's highway robbery! But I cheat. I discovered a few years ago, you can make your own body glitter a lot cheaper and it is good for the skin. You take some aloe vera gel and add some glitter to it. It is so easy. Then you have a much less expensive version of the Twilight glitter.
S, the oldest, is upset with me and her father for saying how much of a blonde she is. So to set the story straight, she is not dumb. She is very intelligent and is getting very good grades. I am extremly proud of her. She just has a habit of speaking before she thinks. B, our son, is also making me proud with the grades he is making. Both of them are heading for the honor roll this year.
Not to be left out, M, the youngest, is very smart also. She will be three in November and already can reconize her ABC's and knows what sounds they make. Our next step is going to be to teach her how to put it all together and learn to read. Her new thing is to tell me I am her best friend. It is so sweet.
My parents were married nearly thirty years. They shared their secret to a long marriage with me and my husband. They lasted as long as they did for us kids. They made an agreement, whoever left first had to take the kids, and neither of them would touch the door. LOL Loving parents, huh?
Well, I am going to say goodbye for now. So much to do, so little time. Have a good one.

It's been a while...

I am so sorry! I haven't been a very good friend the last few days. The kids brought home a virus and then my computer went belly up. Oh well, that is life.
My husband just went to get a tractor trailer truck so he is on the road again. He was telling the kids about it, and said he had to go to Iowa to get the truck then he didn't know where he would end up. Our darling daughter, S, the 13 year old said, "Maybe you can get a load to Hawii!" All I can say is that she is a blonde.
Our youngest, M, 3, was writting her ABC's the other day and decided to stick the pencil in her mouth. I told her if I saw her put that pencil in her mouth again, I was going to take it away from her. A few minutes later, sure enough she had it in her mouth again. I went to her and told her to give me the pecil. She said, "It's not the same pencil". I couldn't really argue with her logic. I did say that pencil afterall.
What a week!!! Having children has made me realize what a thin grasp I have on sanity. Any parents out there know what I mean.
By the way, to Jeremy, New England lost!!! HA HA The Cowboys aren't going to get a winning streak either! LOL Go Steelers!!!
Well, I better go for now. I will try to write some more tomorrow.

Hello, again. Sorry we haven't had a chance to chat for a couple of days, the kids brought home a wonderful little bug. It is now running it's way through the family. I do hope you don't catch it. All the kids got their flu vaccines so I am guessing it is the side effects from that. I need to come up with a new poll for this site. I will think about it tonight and post one tomorrow. I had better go, I hear one of the kids calling. See ya soon.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Hi, again. Welcome. How has your morning going? I have just sat down for a few minutes. I am trying to get all my light fixtures cleaned. I finally got them done. I think I am going to clean the walls this weekend. Don't get me wrong, I am definantly not a neat freak. But my walls are white and with three little ones, a dog, and a cat, things start looking icky.
Did you hear about the mom in Michigan who was told by DSS that she couldn't let her friends kids stay at her house to wait for the bus? Just follow the link to read about it. I was amazed. I think I can decide who watches my kids. I don't need the state to tell me who is more qualified. As over-protective as I am, if I approve of someone, they are good.
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I haven't but I was thinking about starting early this year. My oldest daughter, S, is going to be the hardest. I know she wants everything Twilight, but I want to try to find items that are a little unique for her. Everyone is going to get the same shirts and jewelry, but I want to try to find some stuff that others don't have.
My son, B, is pretty easy. He loves cars and video games. Not a real challenge. My youngest, M, if I get her everything in the store she may be happy.LOL
Well, I have to get back to work. Unfortunately, there isn't a self cleaning house yet. There is something scientist should start working on. Have a good one.

Hi again. I know we already talked this morning, but I looked at the calender and realized tomorrow is October the first. It is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am asking you to please make your appointments to see your doctor this month for your mammogram. I feel very strongly on this topic. My mother had breast cancer at 32 years old. She passed away to young at only 49 years old. Don't become a statistic. Do your self exam and get your mammogram.
Good morning, I was just making a cup of coffee. It is chilly this morning! Great for sleeping, though. My oldest got her flu mist yesterday. No side effects thankfully. She said it smelled bad though. The youngest is in the living room watching Super Why. She loves that show.
I am thinking about burning my Macintosh apple candle from Yankee Candles. I love that one. My husband gets homesick when I burn it on days like today. He is from Upstate New York and when he smells it during fall it reminds him of the apples ripening and apple pie.
My daughter now has started a countdown of days till New Moon opens. I guess I am going to have to take her to the movies that night, since my husband refuses. I am a bit overprotective so I don't want her to go alone. Silly, I know, so many kids go by themselves, but I can't help but think how that would seem like open season for perverts out there. So many young girls, many without their parents. Eww.
I am trying to find a new book for my son to read. He hates reading. I just wish I could find a series that he could get into. He doesn't want to read Harry Potter. I tried that already. I was thinking about Piers Anthony's Zanth books. He seems to be a little interested in them. I might try that.
Have you read any of the Piers Anthony books? He is a really good writer. The Zanth novels are full of puns but they are cute. You should try them if you haven't yet.
My daughter got her dad good the other day. He is a truck driver so he is trained to drive. We were driving and missed our turn, so he turned around and joking said to the kids, "don't try this at home, I am a trained professional". My oldest quips from the backseat, "Yeah, trained like a dog." So much for respecting dad's expertise. LOL
I got the things together to make lasagna for supper tonight. My family always love it. My youngest picks it apart, eating the cheese, then the noodles, and last the sauce. Definitely takes after her father, I know I am not that weird.
Well, it is about that time. I have to get some of this housework done. I am thinking about cleaning my son's room today, so if you don't see me for a few days, call the national guard. Thank goodness we live so close to the Marine base. LOL Have a good one. See ya tomorrow.

Kids and Garlic

Hi again, grab some coffee, I just made that pot. How are you today? I am doing good. I don't have to worry about supper tonight, we are having leftovers. I made a big pot of goulash last night so I can just warm it up tonight. I use a lot of garlic in my cooking and I saw where they are selling these things that look like bars of soap to rub your hands on to get the smell off. All I do is wash my hands with dish soap and then rub my soapy hands on the faucet. It gets the smell off and cleans the faucet. Two for the price of one. LOL
I have to do my bragging. Shaelyn won a homework pass for being the first in the school to answer a trivia question correctly. Way to go!!! Brandon brought home his middle of term progress report and had 3 A's and 1 B. He also brought home a report saying he is doing Math on a 6th grade level. He is in 4th grade!!! Yay! Okay, sorry, had to get that out of my system.
Here are some nice snack recipes you might enjoy. They are easy to make but so good. I love to cook, if you have some recipes you would like to share, just let me know.
In regards to my post from yesterday, my daughter, the Twilight fan, has informed me her new nickname is Alice, and her friend "Rosalie" is going to be calling today. I guess I can be happy it got her interested in reading. Teenagers!!! Did we ever act like that? I can't think of a time I did. I mean all the posters of Skid Row and Bon Jovi all over my room were just decorations. I am sure I didn't go as nuts over them. I hope my Dad doesn't read this. He might try to argue. But I swear he is going senile.LOL Just kidding, Dad!!!
Well, I am going to sign off for now. Got to get some housework done. See ya, soon!

Monday, September 28, 2009

Hello again! Welcome back. Grab some coffee and sit for a while. Shaelyn , my oldest went to a slumber party Friday night. She had a great time. They watched Twilight and played the board game. She has become almost obsessed with the whole Twilight thing. I found some shirts for her online. One says Team Edward- because he sparkles and the other says Future Mrs. Edward Cullen. I found me some shirts too. Just to mess with her. One says Dear Edward, If i wanted sparkles, I would call Richard Simmons. Sincerely, Lestat. He is from Anne Rice's vampire novels. The other says Team Lestat. It annoys her. She will purse her lips and give me an evil look. It is hilarious.
I can say I have learned more about the actors who play the characters in Twilight than I ever wanted to know. Now if I could figure out how to get her that obsessed with school, I would be thrilled.
Oh, I have got a delicious recipe for a chocolate trifle that you would love. It is easy and delicious. I am sure it doesn't have as many calories as it seems to. Nothing that tastes that good can be bad for you.
Well, I better go for now. The youngest just ran past me without pants on. I hope she didn't stick them in the toliet. LOL See ya later.

Hi all!

Well, it is nice to see you. Have a seat. Grab a cup of coffee or tea. How is your day going? Mine has been good so far. I am trying to figure out what to cook for supper tonight. I have a couple of ideas but I can't decide yet. I love recipes and collect them by the ton. It doesn't help though. It makes it harder to decide. Here is what I have it narrowed down to:

Warm You-Up Family Fall Recipes

Easy to Make Snack Recipes

I love this time of the year. The leaves falling, the smell in the air, the kids back in school! Okay the last is my favorite part. lol Do you have kids? I have three. Two girls and a boy. They can be sweet but a pain. This story is the truth I swear. Strange Kids

Well this is the beginning of a hopefully good friendship. Like I said, this is a place for me to talk like we are sitting in the kitchen just talking. I like to go off every once in a while about current events, schools, politics, things like that. Anything that comes to mind really. Think of it as a visit, we can gossip, drink some tea and get away from reality for a while. I hope to see you again. Bye for now.
